World Tour! (well, kinda...)

Okay, so, here's the skinny:

Touring is tough when you're preggo and have a 19-month-old, so I've teamed up with StageIt to put on a LIVE ONLINE CONCERT for you guys from my living room straight to yours!

There is a limited number of tickets available - it's a pay-what-you-can show - and the first 5 ticket holders will be able to request a song that will be played during the show!

You can watch from the comfort of your own home. I'll be playing old songs, new (previously unreleased) songs, and covers/requests, and we can also chat... all in real time! Ah, technology! It'll be exactly one ton of fun.

Can't wait to hang with y'all!

Monday, May 7th at 7:30pm EST

Somebody's Nesting Again!

Sooo... I'm nesting again! In case you couldn't tell, I've recently completed a flurry of home projects: my DIY window cornices, revamped dining chairs, upholstered stools, cafe curtains, and a whole slew of upcoming projects are on the horizon. Meanwhile, this is the most important thing I'm working on right now:

Eggroll #2We're cooking up Eggroll #2 here at the House of Wood, scheduled for release September 2012! Yeah, baby!

DIY: Cute Cafe Curtains

While I was lost in Pinterest-ville, I stumbled across these adorable sunny kitchen curtains:

Cute Cafe Curtians via Women's Day

Super cute, right? I thought so too. And that was that. I was in love. I don't even think I'd mind doing the dishes as much if I had these cuties hanging in front of me (this statement may or may not be verified). So it has been decided. Out with the boring old roman shades and in with the cute cafe curtains.

The Women's Day website provides an excellent tutorial, so I won't bore you with a lengthy one of my own. This project was inexpensive, quick, and easy. I did it during naptime!

Here's a quick and loose version:

1) I measured the length and width of the area I wanted to cover. Following the Women's Day instructions, I did some easy math and came up with a measurement of 27.5"l x 42.75"w. I cut 2 panels of fabric to these measurements.

*Please excuse the crappy iPhone photos. I know, I'm so embarrassed.*

2) Then I pressed and stitched a double-fold hem along the bottom, top, and side edges. I opted for a 2" hem on the bottom and a 1" hem on the top and sides.

3) Finally, I clipped the curtain rings to the curtain and hung it up using a tension rod (don't mind the blinds at the top... those are going away).

Cost Breakdown:

  • 2 yards of Joel Dewberry Blockprint Blossom in Green: $29.00
  • Tension rod: $3.21
  • Curtain clip-on rings: $4.47

Total Cost: $36.68

Super cute and easy peasy! Now my kitchen window plays nice with my recently revamped dining room chairs, window cornices, and wooden stools. I love when we can all just get along. What about y'all? How do you dress up your kitchen windows? Feel free to comment, pin, and share! Thanks for stopping by!

Spring Cleaning!

Today was a sunny, breezy 78 degrees and the perfect weather for car (and motorcycle) washing! I captured a few moments as Evie helped Daddy wash his Harley.

Evie is 18 months old today!

Evie, 18 months

Our little sweet pea, Evelyn Reese, is halfway to two years old. Gahhhh... I just can't believe it. My heart breaks a little each day, yet at the same time it swells until I swear it's going to explode at any moment. How is that possible?!
